Renewal Requirements

Instructor Renewal Requirements

  • Register Safe Travel for All Children courses at least six weeks prior to the start of the course with the National Center;
  • Teach at least one class within a two year renewal period;
  • Agree to teach the curriculum without modifications or using any images or content in other presentations - unless prior, written permission is granted by the National Center; and
  • Submit copies off all class rosters, evaluations, exams, skills check-offs, and releases of information to the National Center within 30 days of the end of the class

Instructor Renewals

Instructors must renew every two years in order to continue teaching Safe Travel for All Children. The deadline for renewals is November 30, and the National Center will send out a reminder e-mail and renewal materials to instructors who fall into that renewal cycle no later than September 30.

 

Mentor Instructor Requirements

Current Safe Travel for All Children Instructors interested in becoming STAC Mentor Instructors must initially meet the following:

  • Be currently approved as a Safe Travel for All Children instructor.
  • Have served as a Safe Travel for All Children instructor for a minimum of five (5) years.
  • Have taught a minimum of one (1) Safe Travel for All Children course annually.
  • Have direct experience assessing the transportation needs of children with special health care needs.
  • Have an overall average course evaluation ranking between 4 and 5.This will be determined by averaging the STAC course evaluations by instructor.
  • Be able to serve as a mentor instructor for out-of-state courses.
  • Be approved as a mentor instructor by the National Center for the Safe Transportation of Children with Special Health Care Needs.
