IU School of Medicine is closely aligned with Indiana University Health, the state’s largest and most comprehensive health care system with 16 hospitals across Indiana, including IU Health Methodist and University hospitals and Riley Hospital for Children. This unique partnership enables IU School of Medicine’s faculty physicians to seamlessly integrate research findings into patient care and to offer promising clinical research studies to patients close to home.

IU Health’s statewide footprint also allows IU School of Medicine to influence the delivery of care outside the traditional academic health center and to provide the most advanced therapies to patients in community hospitals throughout Indiana.

Cancer

Since the 1970s, when IU oncologist Dr. Lawrence Einhorn pioneered the cure for testicular cancer, IU School of Medicine has been a leader in cancer care. Today, patients at IU Health have access to genomically guided therapies, immunotherapies, and other innovative treatments typically only available at elite academic medical centers.

IU Health is consistently one of the 10 largest transplant programs in the United States and is nationally recognized for excellent outcomes and shorter wait times than other programs.

Pediatrics

Riley Hospital for Children is the premier provider of pediatric care in Indiana. IU School of Medicine pediatric specialists at Riley Hospital treat the sickest children and most complex cases with both compassion and skill. Parents can also find expert primary care for their children through Riley Children’s Health.

Eskenazi Health

IU School of Medicine has a long history of serving Indianapolis’ most vulnerable residents as part of a collaboration with Eskenazi Health, the city’s safety net health care system. Patients at Eskenazi Health have access to expert care provided by IU School of Medicine faculty physicians. IU School of Medicine physicians staff Eskenazi’s Level 1 trauma center, busy emergency room and nationally highly regarded burn center, in addition to providing a full range of primary and specialty care.

Roudebush VA Medical Center

Faculty physicians provide comprehensive care to Indiana’s military personnel and veterans through a long-standing relationship with the Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Administration Medical Center. The medical center, located near IU School of Medicine’s downtown Indianapolis campus, provides both primary and tertiary care. IU School of Medicine faculty are improving therapies through basic and clinical research related to PTSD, bone and fracture healing, traumatic brain injuries and other conditions affecting U.S. troops.
